INTERIOR FEATURES
Currently under construction and ready for occupancy in mid-September,
this Melton Ranch home is designed and constructed with vision and the
utmost quality and attention to detail.
A refined yet modern mountain contemporary feel pervades the design. The
lines are crisp, the materials exquisite.
The first thread in the home’s design theme is an emphasis on geometric
stone work in travertine and light hues. Accent walls in travertine,
both sleek and rough-hewn, are found the roughout the home. Multi-sized
travertine tile flooring in the bathrooms, entry hallway and laundry
room add visual interest.
A second design thread is the amazing alder woodwork evident in the doors,
trim, and cabinetry found in every room. The doors are 7’6” solid knotty
alder. The cabinets throughout are alder with a refined mission-style
flair. Every piece and board has gone through extensive detail work—from
the hand-distressed finish on the cabinets, to the eight-step finish on
the doors and trim. The trim throughout is exemplary, including 6” wide
baseboards and multi-level headers above the windows.
The home is also smartly outfitted overall with recessed lighting, both
hydronic in-floor and forced air heating systems, and full air
conditioning. Every closet features built-in cabinets and wardrobe
systems.
Walking through the eight-foot custom entry door, you are immediately
taken by the rock accent wall at your left. Narrow, rectangular
rough-hewn stone in all shades of tan and light neutrals are dry stacked
to perfection. The entry flooring is variously sized chiseled
travertine—some blocks are three feet wide—artfully laid in a random
geometric pattern.
At your right, a stairwell leads to the upper and lower levels of the
home. Before you lies the living area and out-of-this world views. Take
a moment to commune with the mountain vista before you. The views span
from the Snowmass Club Golf Course on the valley floor, up past the runs
of Elk Creek and Hanging Valley on Snowmass Mountain, out the Owl Creek
Valley, and all the way to Ruthie’s run on Aspen Mountain.
Returning the focus back to the inside of the two full walls of expansive
picture windows, the main living area is open to soaring hand-built,
open truss beams. The deep wood tones are echoed in the wide plank
flooring, which has been hand-distressed.
The living room’s gas-log fireplace has a built in mantle beam and a dry
stack stone surround mirroring that of the entry wall. There’s even
wiring for a flat screen TV above the mantle.
The dining area is a spacious alcove surrounded on three sides by windows.
Double sliding doors open out onto the main level’s wrap-around deck.
The dining space is topped with a modern candle chandelier and floored
in wide wood planks.
The gourmet kitchen is roomy enough to accommodate an audience as you
prepare your culinary feats. Two islands, one for seating and one for
cooking, ensure that you can connect with your domestic side and with
your friends and family all at the same time.
Light hued granite countertops adorn rich brown alder cabinetry. The
intricate chiseled stone backsplash and huge window over the stainless
square sink provide splashes of bright intrigue.
The cooking island has a butcher block top, a square stainless prep sink,
and a stainless wine cooler.
The kitchen features a stainless (either a GE Monogram or Viking) gas
stove with a commercial hood, a wood-paneled side-by-side refrigerator,
and a stainless dishwasher.
The main floor bathroom is a work of art in and of itself. Contemporary
travertine tiled walls surround a showpiece, diagonally-placed vanity. A
drop pendant light illuminates a free-standing vessel sink, steel frame
mirror and steel vanity.
The shower has a rock wall to half-height, and a glass surround and glass
door. A rope light concealed above a high shelf adds to the aesthetic.
The main floor bedroom could easily double as an office. A wall of windows
with two sliding doors opens out onto the deck and views across the
Brush Creek Valley.
Coffered ceilings, high-end carpeting, recessed lighting, and a walk-in
closet complete the room.
Returning to the entry hall, an impressive rock accent wall scales the
back of the stairwell as it winds to the upper and lower levels. The
carpeted steps are bordered by hand-crafted custom iron railings.
Two windows in the rock wall bring light into the upstairs master suite.
A wall of glass, interrupted only by sturdy wood posts and beams, marks
the entrance to the master suite at the top of the stairs. Roll open the
massive glass door—it’s mounted at its top on rails—to access the serene
and secluded spaces within.
To the right, the carpeted master bedroom is dominated by a gas-log
fireplace and an enormous bay window overlooking the Brush Creek and Owl
Creek Valleys.
The fireplace has a travertine surround as well as a recessed home for
your flat screen TV above the wood mantle beam. The mantle beam echoes
the beams visible beneath the vaulted ceilings.
The walk-in closet is generous and offers a full wardrobe system.
The master bath is awash in rich-hued alder and light tan stone.
Travertine tile covers the floor, slab travertine tops the alder vanity
and narrow, rough-hewn dry-stacked stone ascends behind the shower.
The shower’s full glass panels are attached by cables to the lofty
ceilings—another modern touch. In addition, the shower features dual
shower heads, a built-in bench, and pebble flooring.
A generous spa tub is lined with travertine tile.
The double vanity has a center cabinet rising to the ceiling. Both the
vanity and the cabinet are double glazed by hand. In addition to the
vanity and cabinet, a large walk-in closet provides ample room for as
many fluffy white towels as you could possibly need.
Returning to the stairs and traveling all the way down to the carpeted
lower level, you travel down a short hallway—lined with lighted art
niches—to find two bedrooms, a bathroom, a media room and the mechanical
room.
Both bedrooms feature coffered ceilings, recessed lighting, and beautiful
views. Each has an ample closet. The first of the two bedrooms has a
door directly to the downstairs bath.
The downstairs bath, like the other bathrooms in the home, is quite simply
modern decorative art. The long double vanity is light tan concrete with
two deep sinks molded in. The faucets emerge right from the travertine
tiled wall behind the sinks. Two steel framed mirrors, flanked by
refined sconces, reside above the vanities.
The bathroom additionally features travertine floor tile and an oversized
tub/shower.
The media room’s central feature is a dyed, colored concrete media center
in medium grey tones. The media center was poured off-site and
hand-fitted, piece by piece, into the room.
Double sliding doors lead out onto a patio and beyond to the idyllic and
peaceful outdoor spaces.
Wood beams and foot-wide sills on a wall of windows add to the character
of the space.
The home’s mechanical room, also on the lower level, offers huge amounts
of storage.
The laundry room is on the main floor and is accessed from the entry
hallway. It is equipped with full-size, front-loading, side-by-side
washer and dryer and a utility sink with alder cabinets above and below.
The flooring is travertine, and two banks of cubbies, cabinets, and
shelves are anchored by bench seating below.
Even this most functional of rooms features a big picture window and views
to the exquisitely landscaped yard.
A door from the laundry room leads to the three-car garage, which has
heated floors. The garage doors have been customized with wood panels.
EXTERIOR FEATURES
The exterior of the home has been crafted with the same care as the
interior—form and function go hand in hand.
The home is roofed with 50-year recycled synthetic composite shake
shingles and rusted, corrugated steel. The gutters are also of rusted
steel.
The siding and shingles are cedar, with dry-stacked moss rock below. A
large, curved planter of dry stacked moss rock leads your eye in toward
the home’s front entry.
The metal clad wood windows are finished in a deep red, and mounted flush
within the siding and rock of the exterior.
A wrap-around deck on the main level is another modern element to the
home’s design. Made of everlasting Trex decking, the cedar posts are
outward-angled and spanned between by cable.
The concrete aggregate driveway is plumbed and ready for you to install a
snowmelt system.
The landscaping is pristine with a sprinkler system built in for ease of
care. The lawns are lined with boulder retaining and accent walls. The
boulder terraces hold a wealth of trees—tall aspens, blue spruce, and
pine.
ADDITIONAL REMARKS
It is a rare treat to find a brand new home tucked into the
well-established and warm Melton Ranch neighborhood.
The home is conveniently located on Snowmass’s free shuttle line. Catch a
ride and experience the Village’s exemplary shopping or dining, commune
with nature on the world-class ski slopes, or enjoy the many amenities
of the new Snowmass Recreation and Pool Center.
